News and Events - 2012
Summer / Fall 2012 - As I write this update, three inches of snow lay on the ground! I want to emphasize that Summer and Fall passed much too quickly!
The summer season is always the busiest time of year with lessons, clinics, and judging. We are very lucky in New England to have many wonderful and well run schooling shows, all within close proximity. I love judging these competitions which help prepare riders for the big time. When I lived and competed in Texas, it was common to drive 6 to 10 hours to an event or dressage show!
I want to recognize all my students on all their successes this year. Everyone has made tremendous progress with their amazing partners, each milestone holds special meaning. The show ring is only a small moment in our life with horses. Much work and thought goes into their care and training! As many know, this sport is not for the faint hearted, on so many levels including the checkbook. I appreciate each person's committment of time, energy and money to keep their horses healthy and happy. I look forward to continued growth and friendship in this crazy world of horses!
Here are some showing highlights and I apologize if I left anyone out!

Spring / Early Summer 2012 - Well folks, it was a busy spring here in the Northeast with preparations for shows, events and judging. The Spring season started the Central Vermont Dressage Association's weekend extravaganza at GMHA show grounds. Saturday is a ride-critique-ride day and Sunday is a very professionally run schooling show. This is my 3rd year participating as a clinician and judge, we have lots of fun in a relaxed atmosphere. I have made some wonderful friends through this event and always have fun. The gorgeous weather was icing on the cake.
Oak Hill Farm in Pepperell, MA hosted their first Ride-Critique-Ride on May 20th with the weather cooperating perfectly. They have gorgeous indoor for the warm-up and a picturesque outdoor arena with superb footing. All the horses and riders rode well with great improvements in their test riding.
Schooling shows at Bradford Equestrian Center and Oakrise also shared beautiful warm days with happy horses and riders. Both these schooling shows are excellent for young horses or simply getting your feet wet for competing.
I continue my monthly clinics at 4.0 Farm in Stratham, NH. This facility is owned by Beth Adams, a talented trainer, rider and wonderful host. She is also a dog trainer specializing in teaching owners and their dogs the intricacies of herding and has a precious herd of goats and sheep.
My monthly clinics continue at Windswept Farm in Canterbury, NH. This is a large facility surrounded by gorgeous, expansive fields and miles of trails. They cater to everyone from beginner children to experienced, and have a strong group of dressage and event riders.
A huge congratulations to Kelly Pullen, who runs the family owned farm, on her recent success at King Oak Dressage days. She was Reserve High score at 4th level for both Friday(64.5) and Saturday(66.0) also winning her Sunday test with a 66.7%. Kelly works with Pam Goodrich but receives additional assistance from me.
The eventing world has been busy with many great outings for Katie Murphy and her young horse Garth. Her Dressage scores have been fantastic, often times the low score of the whole event, with winnings or second place finishes at Hitching Post, Young Event Horse competition at GMHA and UNH Horse trials. Erin Langan has had a great season with her OTTB Dalton, again winning or finishing second with great dressage and athletic jumping.
Crooner, my own young horse, continues to progress and I enjoy immensely my monthly training session with Karl Mikolka, former Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School and USDF hall of famer. Karl has made huge contributions to development of dressage in the United States and continues to spark passion and love of classical riding. I have updated photos of Crooner on the gallery.
Winter 2012 - What a wonderfully mild winter! Warmer temps meant more teaching and consistent riding for everyone in the New England area. Thank you to Windswept farm in Canterbury, NH for continued clinics with their fantastic horses and riders. Gray Cat Farm was the home base for myself and my young horse Crooner whose well mannered behavior carried on through his first New England Winter. Congratulations to Bobbi Haney on the purchase of Oak Hill Farm in Pepperell, MA. This is a beautiful boarding facility which Bobbi and her husband Mark have made immense improvements just in their first 2 months of ownership. Their website is www.oakhillfarmllc.com. Gary and I made a fun trip to the Dressage Masters competition in Florida. We met up with our dear friends Matt and Angie Voss and had a blast. Enjoy the Spring!
